Native American Turquoise and Sterling Silver Necklace

Description : The squash blossom necklace appeared in Native American jewelry around 1870 when the Spanish came to the Southwest area which is now the United States. Unusually greenish rough nugget cabochon turquoise adorns this traditional Native American necklace. Throughout its history the squash blossom had 3 design elements, the plain round beads, the beads with the squash blossom petals and the centerpiece which is called a Naja. The length is approximately 24" long and the squash blossoms are beautifully crafted. Unsigned.
