Victorian 15K rose gold and enamel post earrings
Victorian 15K rose gold and enamel post earrings
Description : Taille d'epergne means 'shallow cut'. This enamelling technique was used to economize the amount of gold removed for carving the design into solid gold, and filling the channel with enamel. A hand holds a fan on each earring, and butterflies hover above. This design creates a vision of a woman sitting in a garden on a hot day. Made in circa 1870, it is an image of time stopped, for just a moment. The disks are approximately 25mm across, and the earring post construction holds the earring close to the lobe to fit properly. These earrings are classic in style, and tell a story of 19th century England.
