Description : Dewey and Janine Gahate are no longer with us, but their spectacular Zuni traditional sterling silver and needlepoint jewelry lives on. The difference between needlepoint turquoise shapes and petit point turquoise is the actual shape. When pointed on either end, this style of lapidary cutting is called needlepoint. When there is a rounded edge like a teardrop or pear shape it is called petit point. This ring is in the traditional style and design made by the Zuni called sunburst. Every piece of turquoise is carefully mined, cut and then set in serrated bezels. This work is traditionally Zuni, and is their signature in jewelry. Turquoise set in Native American jewelry is generally United States mined that is sourced from the many mines located throughout the South West United States. Signed by the husband and wife artists, and secured with a split shank. Size 8
