Description : This spectacular oval opal is significant in size. The Welo opal comes from the Welo province in Ethiopia located in Northern Africa. Opal is a soft silicate that forms in cracks of host rocks or replaces wood and bone in petrified materials. This opal is particularly fine with a spectacular rainbow of play of color throughout this gemstone. The center gemstone is double claw prong set in platinum and accented with two flanking sides of a total weight of .72 carats of round, white, natural, finely cut quality diamonds. The setting is a ballerina style which keeps the gemstone open and provides the proper light for it to be showcased brilliantly.
