Description : The term Auld Lang Syne is a Scottish saying originating from the writings of Robert Burns, written in 1788. Literally translated, the phrase means Old, Long, Since, but interpreted as (for old time's sake). It is a tribute given at the end of each calendar year to remember our friends and family. It is traditional to raise a cup of beer or drink in honor of the past year. Carved into the translucent agate tablet set on top of the ring is a hand with a beer stein. The stein was legally required in the 1400's during the bubonic plague to cover all open food and drink. The textural ornate ring shank holds the tablet flat on the top of the ring, and Auld Lang Syne and the image are hand carved into the agate. This is a great gift for someone who loves beer, and is Scottish! We say..'hold my beer!' A fun conversation piece this ring is loaded with historic symbolism and meaning. Size 6.5
