Description : The intention of a signet ring is to provide a signature. Sometimes it was used as a wax seal in business. This inset signature in relief, looks to be well used, but most likely properly worn for many years. In February of 1923 Howard Carter opened the tomb of Tutenkhamen in Egypt in the Valley of the Kings, and changed the history of the world. This event created an international revival for Egyptian art and jewelry, which inspired a global wave of artistic inspiration. This ring is certainly a product of that revival. Formed in 18KY gold the signet is oriented in an East/West fashion, and the texture of the background compliments the high polish relief of the symbols. One looks to be the feather of M'aat which was the goddess of justice. This ring has a nice 6mm wide band and is a size 6.
