Description : Psyche was a mortal princess who's name means 'soul' in Greek. Her story is one of jealousy, love, and a parallel to the journey of the human soul. Venus commanded her son Cupid to make Psyche fall in love with a monster, but Cupid fell in love with her himself. The process of intaglio is to carve a likeness into a tablet of agate. These were often seals that could be used in wax. The glowing round orange agate in this ring is intricately carved with Psyche's portrait, and her beauty is profoundly revealed. On each of her sides on the shank there are hand carved symbols, one of an ant and one of a butterfly, symbolizing hard work and complete transformation.
