Description : The style of diamond called rose cut was very popular during the Georgian and Victorian times. This ring is nearly 200 years old. The flat back and loosely faceted rounded top bezel set natural diamonds were fashioned and set to glow in candlelight, the only interior light that was available at the time. Rose cut natural diamonds are clustered all around this typical sterling silver top and 14KY gold shank ring. The sterling silver was meant to enhance the glow of the rose cut diamonds, and the karat gold was used to protect the wearer's hand. Georgian jewelry often mixes sterling silver with karat gold, and is one of the signature identifiers for specifically Georgian era pieces. The top of this ring is a slightly oval shape, and the band tapers in the back for comfort. We love the pierced gold open back, as it looks like a cathedral window. Size 7.75
