Description : The Modernist movement in design was based on simplistic form, light and symmetry. The Brutalist movement was a response to the minimalist approach of Modernism. The Brutalists dared to create texture, asymmetrical form, and show raw edges. This era in design lasted from the 1950's into the 1970's. Two Australian opals, one oval and one round cabochon are multiple prong settings nested amidst gold that appears to be crushed. The textural details on the top of the ring even out to become a smooth comfortable shank. There is a dynamic between the softness of the opals and the bold shape of the ring. Australian opal is some of the most prized in the world, forming as a silicate like hundreds of iridescent bubbles of soap. Opal has a phenomenon called 'play of color' and is the birthstone for October. Size 6
