Victorian 14KY gold and Old Mine Cut diamond ring

Description : An old mine cut diamond is very distinctive to identify. It has a much higher table, a deeper culet and often does not have 58 full facets. Sometimes the shape is slightly out of round. These qualities do not however diminish their value. As time goes on, old mine cuts are more difficult to source, as they are finite in quantity. This lovely ring has a 14KY gold shank, but you will see that the top piece that holds the diamonds is white gold. This was a technique used to make the natural diamonds appear as white as possible. Three small diamonds cross the front of the ring, while two larger 6 prong set diamonds are stacked in a North South arrangement. Two smaller bezel set stones are off to each side, and there are several graduated diamonds prong set in a flush channel, flaring out to each side. The back of this ring is as interesting as the front: for the openings are decorative shapes that give each stone the light it needs to shine its very brightest. The total weight of natural diamonds in this ring is 1.3 carats. Size 8
