Description : The original Etruscans were an ancient civilization in the area of Tuscany. They were known for their intricate and highly detailed gold jewelry. In the 1800's archeologists discovered several Roman tombs and an Etruscan revival period in jewelry making became popular during the Victorian era. The Castellini families were pioneers in this revival metalworking techniques and their work was inspired by the ancient processes of granulation, repousse, chasing and engraving. Three oval faceted citrines are bezel set on an ornately carved domed top, with a round faceted ruby bezel set in the center of this ring. The rich colors of gold and ruby are symbolic of autumn, and sometimes Etruscan revival pieces were worn as mourning jewelry. This hand fabricated ring is in excellent condition, richly adorned with flowers, and fashioned after a civilization that thrived over 2500 years ago. Size 5.5
