Description : The Brutalist movement began in the 1960's and continued through the 1970's. This style was considered to be wearable art. Jewelry had transformed from the refined, 'fine' period into rough edges, and chaotic arrangements. This ring has many Brutalist qualities. It defies symmetry, and is organically structured. A refined soft greenish blue aquamarine from the beryl gemstone family is cut into a faceted oval and placed in a bezel setting at an angle into a tangle of 14KY gold branch-like formations. Nature is brutal, but also has her elegant and exacting design. Small diamonds are prong set in an arbitrary manner throughout, and the dynamic between the refined gemstones and the dynamic construction of this ring definitively expresses the Brutalist qualities in a piece of jewelry.
