Art Deco 14K white gold, onyx and Old European Cut diamond ring

Description : The Old European Cut Diamond has a very special set of features that make it a desirable cut. This type of diamond has a higher crown, a smaller table, and a longer pavilion. This ratio favors the dispersion of light, which is what creates a rainbow effect. It is cut by hand over cut by machine or today, with a laser. There is often a flat facet at the culet which appears to have a larger opening when looked straight through, and the facets can be very irregular and sometimes asymmetrical. The onyx tablet has been replaced in this ring, and the bezel set diamond is drilled through for a lower profile and a very secure setting. There are many details that refer to architecture in this ring which is a signature of the Art Deco style. Milgrain surrounds the bezel setting and the rectangular design accented with 2 diamonds north and south of the center round.
