Mid-century Modern 14KY gold, Persian turquoise and diamond cocktail ring
Mid-century Modern 14KY gold, Persian turquoise and diamond cocktail ring
Description : The cocktail ring was a symbol of decadence, freedom and feminine rebellion. No longer opting for demure, tiny rings or pieces of jewelry, the onset of the cocktail ring had its beginnings in the 1920's with the era of Flappers, Speakeasy's and flamboyant behavior. Women were also becoming more and more integrated into the work force, and could afford big statement pieces of jewelry. Persian turquoise is the centerpiece of this cocktail ring. Persian turquoise generally had very little matrix, but there is just a hint of matrix at the base of the 20mm long x 15mm oval piece. Six roundish Persian turquoise cabochons are prong set around the perimeter and gorgeous white faceted diamonds accent all around the center stone in spiral rays of brilliant sparkle. There is a wildness to this ring, an unfettered sense of freedom in such a statement piece. The triple split shank helps to balance the top with the bottom so that the open back gemstone ring stays securely on center on your hand. What a fresh piece of piece of jewelry even after 75 years of age! In near perfect condition, turquoise is the birthstone for December, and diamond is April. Size6.5 This ring would definitely be a 'treat yourself' gift.
