Description : The first lab grown sapphire was created in 1873 using the flux method. Gemstones were very popular and this was an affordable way to make them available to the market. In 1902 they had developed a flame fusion method. This is an example of a synthetic emerald cut sapphire, set east-west in a lovely 14KY gold filigree setting. The word filigree comes from 2 words, filium which means 'thread' and granum which means grain. Woven around the bezel set synthetic sapphire is a feminine delicate style of filigree. Sapphire is the birthstone for September. Size 4.25
