Description : This brooch was purchased in Istanbul by the client's family. The image of the rooster in Turkish is a relevant cultural symbol of Turkey, particularly the region of Denizli where roosters are bred specifically for their long and loud crowing. The rooster signifies dawn, and awakening as well as courage and protection. Crafted in glass filments called filati, the handmade strands are cut and placed carefully in a soft material like tile work. Adorned with pink and green tourmaline with green zircon, the gems are bezel set in a radiant pattern above the image of the roosters and flowers. A fantastic and unique gift the micro-mosaic testifies to the longevity of the process, and tells the story of a culture over 100 years ago.
