Description : Painters like Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn influenced the Brutalist movement in jewelry in the 1950's. It was a response to the idea of 'fine' masterpiece works of art and eventually affected jewelry. This convertible pin/pendant was locally made, and shows how the Brutalist movement was still a trend in the 1970's. Organic, rough, and textural form was used in jewelry making with fine materials, showing that a piece of jewelry could still have value, and break the confines of traditional styles. Made in 18KY gold, 11 cabochon marquis shaped natural white opals are tip prong set in a flow of 18KY gold and accented with prong set, natural round white, brilliant cut diamonds. A convertible means that this piece can be worn as either a pin or a pendant, which makes it versatile for any occasion! Opal is the birthstone for October.
