Modern 18KY gold and diamond pineapple dress clip

Description : Dress clips were very popular in the 1950's. Not only could they be used on scarves, lapels and collars, but they were also accessories to handbags. Cast in solid 18KY gold the top fronds of this pineapple are outlined in natural white round faceted diamonds that are prong set in a channel. The textural detail of this dress clip is synonymous with the 1950's style. The pineapple sits on a branch and was a symbol of wealth, status and travel. Pineapples were very rare, and also signified hospitality. The actual fruit was introduced into European culture by Christopher Columbus in the late 15th century.
