Victorian 18KY gold, malachite and micro-mosaic pin

Description : This pastoral scene shows a voluptuous woman laying on the ground next to a full basket of juicy white grapes. She has a beatific expression on her face. This scenario has been carefully and exquisitely crafted in micromosaic which is stunning in quality. Every detail of this sensuous image is made from small glass threads called tesserae which are hand blown glass. The details in the flowing fabric, her peasant blouse and her basket are rendered in multicolored, graduated tones of glass. The oval is then inset into a sheet of malachite. Malachite is called the 'Stone of Transformation' and its green color is attributed to its copper content. Surrounding the malachite is an 18KY gold frame of granulated and braided gold. The malachite does have a small crack, but this extraordinary piece of history comes with an appraisal.
