Brutalist 14KY gold, Sterling Silver and white opal, and black opal doublet brooch

Description : Merle Weston was born in Chicago and she passed in Longmont CO. This amazing gift is inscribed from Eve J. Alfelle. This unusual brooch is in 14KY gold and sterling silver, with 2 types of oval opals. One is a white natural opal and the other is either a doublet or triplet. This means that there is a thin layer of opal with a backing, and/or sometimes a quartz overlay to protect the opal underneath. Created in the Brutalist style, this organic, and wildly designed pin is certainly a unique and one of a kind piece of jewelry. Engraved with her name, and the name of the woman who gifted it to her, it is signed and dated 1988.
