Victorian 14KY gold Fox Horn Essex crystal

Description : Fox hunting jewelry is considered highly collectable. The horn was called the 'cor de chasse' a french term for an instrument like a French horn that was used as a primary way to communicate commands during a fox hunt. Fashioned in 14KY gold this lovely gem of a brooch is made of Essex crystal, which must never be placed near water. The back of the mother of pearl setting is hand painted with the comical face of a fox, and a piece of convex carved quartz crystal is place over the top and the two are sealed together.
