Victorian Sterling Silver and white enamel pendant and powder case
Victorian Sterling Silver and white enamel pendant and powder case
Description : Guilloche is a process that was widely used in France and the early 1900's. Metal was turned on a lathe which created a variety of interesting textures. The textured surface is then covered with a translucent shimmering enamel. The design underneath that is revealed through the enamel is breathtaking. Here we have a powder case that is also a pendant. Proportioned like a pocket watch, the original silk tab for opening the locket still resides inside. The silver backed mirror is in very good condition for its vintage, and the repetitive fleur de lys, (a symbol of the lily of the valley flower), is designed on the surface in gold. This pendant is a lovely, feminine French treasure.
