Modern 18KY, Koroite black opal pendant

Description : Opal generally fills sedimentary cracks and can be found in wood, or bone, considered softer materials. Koroite opal is formed specifically in the Koroite fields in Queensland Australia. It is found in ironstone, a much harder rock. It is a highly sought after gemstone, and displays incredible play of color throughout the rock, and is cut specifically to highlight the opal ribbons found in the rock. This 40mm long pendant is a lovely match of 18KY gold in an organic ribbon-like form securely surrounding the rough Koroite opal rock. Rarity and fine craftsmanship are found in this unique pendant.
