Description : Sometimes the Tahitan pearl can grow as a single base color, and have 2 overtone colors. In this 16" long strand, these 9.5mm AB grade finely matched pearls have not only the burgandy or aubergine overtone, but in addition, a green overtone as well. The term 'harlequin' is used when there are several colors in a single strand. Strung with a caribeaner style clasp, which facilitates an easily opening, the hefty 18KY gold is accented with diamonds. The Tahitian pearl is becoming more rare as the increase of water temperatures and pollution can affect the harvest, and perfectly matched multicolor strands of this quality are becoming more difficult to find. Born from the Pinktada Margaritafera, only one mollusk in the world produces these pearls, and can only be found in the waters of Tahiti.
