Description : The signed hallmark, DP is often associated with the Navajo/Dine silversmith artist, Don Platero. Done in the traditional style of petit point, which is a crochet term, each piece of brilliant blue natural turquoise is hand fashioned and then set in dozens of bezels on a classic Squash blossom necklace. The Naja center is possible a reference to the crescent moon, as originally inspired by the Spanish Moors that came to the Southwest in the 1500's. A squash blossom necklace represents fertility and abundance and is worn during ceremony. It is also proudly displayed as tribal status. Strung on the traditional herringbone chain, this necklace is a masterpiece of cultural representation and hand fabricated Native American jewelry design. 24 inches long
