Description : The Austro-Hungarian Empire was a duel empire in Europe between 1867 and 1918. Two sovereign states were ruled by a single monarch, which constituted the final phase of the Hapsburg Monarchy. During this time Austria and Hungary were co-equal powers. Jewelry during this era was marked with master craftsmen working with references to the jewelry of France and Italy. They particularly loved the jewelry of the Etruscans. Natural seed pearls were often used in their elaborate and complex jewelry that combined multiple influences of rough surfaces and smooth with sophisticated and organic details. This chain link necklace was given to a child to wear as the original recipient found it to be unappealing. Green beryl is the center drop with natural pearls and rubies placed all around the pendant and on the links of the chain. The clasp has three various sized bezel set rubies, and all of the links have natural pearls and green beryl accents.
