Description : The Renaissance Revival in the 19th Century was primarily inspired by architectural details throughout Italy and France. Sometimes referred to as Neo-Renaissance, which drew its references from 15th century buildings, this style was also an expression known as 'Mannerism'. Drawn upon the principles of proportion and strong symmetry these details can be seen in this elaborate necklace with seraphim and cherubic angels that hold the chain anchored by a 5 pointed star in enamel. Two nude figures are flanking the long oval faceted bezel set yellowish green chrysoberyl gemstone. Stationed around the ornate 9K gold necklace are enameled Maltese crosses. The signature of a Maltese cross is that all the legs are equal in length. Two angels hold the center piece in place and a natural baroque pearl is suspended from the pendant. This necklace comes in its original box of green velvet and thin open link chains help to position all of the components into place. 16 inches long this necklace comes with a safety chain feature for securing the clasp.
