Victorian 18KY gold French Sunflower Necklace

Description : Created in 1900, this was just after the time that Van Gogh made his famous 'Sunflower Paintings' in 1889. The sunflower in French culture is a symbol for happiness, faith and optimism. It is also a symbol for royalty. Triangular shapes each hold a partial image of a gold sunflower in an open framework. Most likely one of a kind, there is a whimsical layout in the graduated frames to only show a few petals on the smallest shaped top component. The handmade chain fashioned in an organic style is a bonus on this necklace, which is a small size at 15 inches long. Rich buttery 18KY gold, the satin finish or patina from previous wear, is a warm golden yellow. This is a very special necklace made in someone's atelier, in France, over 124 years ago.
