Description : The 4 Vices of Man were notably, Women, Alcohol, Gambling, and Horse Racing. These were great concerns for the married women of the late 1800's and early 1900's. The alcohol problem was a serious one, and was attempted to be addressed by the Temperance Movement. Because alcohol was a traded commodity for furs and other luxury goods, many cultures in the United States, including the Native Americans as well as Europe and Canada, were heavily affected by alcoholism. The cufflinks are hand painted silks, protected by an acrylic cover, and set into gold fill settings. Somewhat tongue in cheek, these cufflinks are reminders of 'what not to do'. Beautifully painted, and in spectacular condition, these vices are as current today as they were over 100 years ago.
