QUANDELACY
Native American Sterling Silver Fossilized bone, agate and heishi shell earrings
Native American Sterling Silver Fossilized bone, agate and heishi shell earrings
Description : The Quandelacy family is famous for their fetish carvings, and their history spans several generations. Many members of this family are still working in the traditional carving and inlay style that Ellen Quandelacey learned from her father Johnny Quam. These earrings represent the sky and the earth, a bird hovers over a bear, both having turquoise inlaid eyes. The bird is from the fossil bone, and the darker agate is the bear. Between them is the heishi shell which symbolizes water. Representing the proud culture and heritage from the Zuni Pueblo tradition, the Quandelacey family continues to create cultural heirlooms that speak to the Native American experience.
