Georgian 18KY gold, pearl and purple garnet drop earrings

Description : Garnets are usually expected to be red, however they come in a myriad of colors, including green, orange and as seen here, purple. Found in alluvial deposits in Mozambique, Tanzania, and India, these 6, oval faceted purple garnets have a mysterious history, as the Georgian period existed over 200 years ago spanning the timeframe of 1714-1837. Three, 6mmx4mm oval faceted purple garnets are bezel set in each earring, in hand fabricated 18KY gold botanic themed drop style earrings. Two round cultured pearls hang at the top of each one, making these adornments such an unusual and interesting pairing of reddish purple, and creamy white colors. Lightweight, yet substantial in size, garnet is the birthstone for January, and Pearl is for June.
