Description : Koroite is a form of opal that has been found in ironstone, exclusively in the Koroite fields of Queensland, Australia. This material has become increasingly rare. Opal generally forms in sedimentary material and softer materials like wood and bone, but ironstone is a very durable, and the black opal seams itself through the hard rock like opal ribbons displaying a delightful shimmer of 'play of color'. Two matching slices of koroite are made into earrings, set in 18KY gold and accented with 1.5mm round white natural diamonds in an asymmetric style on either side of the ear. Built with security in mind, the omega backs affix these post earrings safely to your ear, and this feature prevents them from drooping. Rare, intriguing, and very elegant, these earrings make a big statement!
