Description : Did you know that the bolo tie is the official neckwear of Arizona as of 1971 and the official tie of Texas? It was started by the Native American silversmiths, and was developed in the mid 20th century. A circular dome of sterling silver shows the silhouette of a crane. This is achieved by overlaying sterling silver sheet that has been cut out, and then superimposed on another. The inset design is then oxidized using a liver of sulphur product. The braided leather strap is adjustable by opening the hinged release in the back, which gives the wearer a way to get the bolo tie on, and then adjust it to length. The crane is very special to the Native American culture. She is a messenger between the worlds of spirits and humans. It is also a signature of a clan family in the Hopi and Navajo (Dine) culture. This beautiful, simple elegant symbol is a striking reminder of tribal blessings.
