Victorian 14KY gold and angelskin coral brooch

Description : “Pelle d'angelo” is the Italian name for what is known as angelskin coral. Some of the rarest coral found in the oceans, coral beds are now being protected by the United Nations. This coral is from over 100 years ago. Found in the waters near Japan, Taiwan and Hawaii, it can take many years to find pieces that match in color. Organic gold leaves wrap around an angelskin coral branch carved into a rose formation and set into 14KY gold to create a feminine brooch that is 65mm in length. Thought to have healing properties, a gift of angelskin coral can be intended as a symbol of protection against negativity. Coral is sometimes used as an alternative to the birthstone of diamond for April.
