Description : George Francis Train (1829-1904) was a world traveller whose adventures most likely inspired Jules Verne's novel 'Around the World in 80 days. George purportedly went entirely around the world at least 3 times. Ironically Mr. Train was involved in the setup of the Union Pacific Railroad and published a newspaper titled 'Revolution' dedicated to women's rights. This incredible 18KY gold set is a piece of local Colorado history. The pin and the center pendant are personally engraved to Miss Train from the Citizens of Denver. The gold is from a Colorado mine, and the agate is also US mined. The pin measures 30mm x 25mm in total and the largest pendant size is 35mmx24mm. The stars most likely signify the capitol of Colorado, Denver and the motif is a compass. The entire length is 14 inches long. Of course the length could be extended with another piece of chain. This is one of the most special pieces in our inventory and comes with a well used but original box from Italy.
