Georgian 18Ky gold, ruby and rose cut diamond halo ring

Description : Rubies were once thought to be created by God, and were found in dragon's eggs. This story aligns with the Georgian period of jewelry this ring was made, c. 1832. The Georgian period was during the reign of 4 kings, George I-IV from about 1714-1837. At that time most of the world's rubies came from the Mogok Valley. The three rubies found in this ring are a rich purplish red, with very vibrant color. The open backs give the rubies a lot of light. The rose cut diamonds surround them in prong settings. The center faceted oval ruby is set in an East West style, and flanked with two, smaller round gems. There are several hallmarks on the inside shank of this ring, but they have been partially worn off. This ring is sold AS IS. size 8.5
