Etruscan Revival 18KY gold pendant locket

Description : Dated approximately 1880, this locket has a unique set of images secured within this pendant. In 1880, the process of photography was just in its infancy. Hand coloring was generally done using watercolors or block print inks. These gentlemen, one being hand colored, are as fresh faced today as they were 120 years ago. The Etruscans, 7th-3rd century BCE, were master gold workers from Italy and upon finding the ruins of Pompeii, a huge revival during Victorian times was inspired by ithe jewelry found in the tombs. This solid 18KY, 84mm long by 38mm wide gold locket has 3 colors of mixed gold forming floral details on the cover, and the back has the monogram initials of the owner. Chain is not included.
