Modern 14KY gold and enamel cuckoo clock pendant and chain
Modern 14KY gold and enamel cuckoo clock pendant and chain
Description : Robert Lee Morris who designed jewelry and watches, was born in Nuremburg in 1947. He studied the craft of metalsmithing in Vermont, and Joan Sonnabend from the famous Sonnabend gallery in NYC exhibited his work. He also produced a signature watch for a Swiss timepiece company. Going back to his roots, this cuckoo clock pendant watch has history beginning in the 1600's in the Black Forest, where clocks were made by local artisans in hard times . I had one in my family, and it was a ritual to pull the pine cones down on the chains in order to rewind the wall clock every day, assuring that a cuckoo bird springs forward from the doors of its home to announce the passing of every hour. This lovely cuckoo clock pendant is upside down, which is often the way a nurse wears her timepiece, to be able to look down and immediately see the time. Beautifully crafted the enameled blue bird sits atop the 17 jewel clock. The pinecones are accurate representations of what a cuckoo clock looks like. Blue enamel flowers adorn the house. This pendant is finely crafted, and hand engraved in solid 14KY gold. What an unique treasure with such a rich history, in excellent condition!
