With 1.5mm round faceted flush set rubies on one side, and the same pattern and sized stones in sapphire on the other, versatility is the key to wearability. Ruby and sapphire are the same mineral, but with different mineral affects. Ruby has chromium and will sometime flouresce, and sapphire has iron and titanium. Measuring 9 on the Moh's scale of hardness, these gems are very durable, as shown by the very condition of the gems on this approximately 75 year old pendant. Ruby is the birthstone for July, and sapphire is for September, and this pendant has the feeling of a festive 4th of July.
