Description : The horse was a symbol of power and wealth in the Native American community. Horses were introduced into their culture when the Spanish came to the Southwest area of the United States, represented freedom, and enabled the tribes hunt for buffalo. To have a large horse herd was a status symbol. To give someone an animal fetish, was to bestow upon them the spirit of that animal. Each fetish is articulately carved and has an animal's talismanic powers that can be drawn upon. This large carved turquoise horse is 45mm long. He has a broken ear, but is still a handsome companion. Sold as is.
