Georgian Sterling Silver and lava cameo link bracelet

Description : Cameos are carved surfaces with relief texture. They can be made from a variety of materials. Lava cameos are unique in that the stone that is used often comes from Pompeii, as souvenirs of the ruins. Visiting Pompeii was popular during the early 1800's. The lava found there was formed in many colors, including white to a dark gray. Carved into the large oval stones, are the portraits of several different Roman dignitaries.
