Victorian Gold fill, natural coral, imitation pearl and enamel link bracelet
Victorian Gold fill, natural coral, imitation pearl and enamel link bracelet
Description : Coral was used throughout history in jewelry because of its rich color, and was often carved into figurative shapes. A small bust of a woman is carved in natural coral and set in the center of this elaborately designed link bracelet. Cameos have been used in jewelry since the Sumerian times, and have subtle references to the time period they were created, for instance an upturned nose is more Victorian, and the style of hair can indicate the era. This large scale brilliant blue enamel link bracelet is in very good condition. It is adorned with imitation pearls onto large open back, hinged links that are enameled in a brilliant blue. The pearls are set in the center of a star pattern, and there are gold fill botanical shapes extending from the center in typical Victorian fashion. Secured with a safety clasp and connected with several strands of gold fill herringbone chain, the open piercing in the back of each of the three links adds a lacey look to the overall intricate decorative style. Coral is the alternative birthstone for April.
