Description : Feather like forms surround this amazing and rare cultured Mabe pearl from the Sea of Cortez. These pearls are becoming increasingly rare, as the elevation of temperature of the thermoclines, and pollution have diminished the once abundant supply. Born from the “Rainbow Lipped Pearl Oyster” (Pteria sterna) the pearls from these waters are traditionally a silvery gray in color. The size of this pearl does not disappoint measuring at 30mm long and 20mm wide. Cultured Mabe pearls grow along the lining of the mollusk rather than the interior flesh. Nearly a perfect surface the iridescent smooth gray surface is the classic example of this rare gift from nature. Set in 18KY gold, this ring is a size 8.
