Modern Shakudo, Trifari Diane Love bracelet watch
Modern Shakudo, Trifari Diane Love bracelet watch
Description : Trifari was a traditional costume jewelry company that appealed to a more conservative client, including Mamie Eisenhower. In 1970 Diane Love was hired by the company, and considered a fresh face in the jewelry industry. Originally a fine jewelry designer, Diane took her love and knowledge for Art History, and incorporated her knowledge into a style she called 'wearable art'. Only making approximately 150 watches, this stunning rare example is one of them. Referencing Shakudo, a Japanese metalsmithing technique, she uses textural detail and gold overlay to highlight an offset oval Swiss timepiece. This is a manual watch, which means it has to be wound regularly. The koi fish are lively figures that represent luck, prosperity and good fortune, and appear to be joyfully swimming upon each link. A combination of tradition, design and the Trifari signature, this watch is the epitome of a woman designer's vision who pioneered the concept of fine art jewelry being worn effortlessly, everyday.
